Sent to Solo/Duet students 10-15-10

The time has come to choose costumes!  If your child is performing a solo/duet this year, and you would like for us to order a costume for her, we will need to do this very soon so it is back by Feb. to compete at the Convention/Competition on the 26th.  Remember, it is mandatory to compete your solo/duet at this (just like last year), if you want to compete at Boogie Fever or Dance Machine this year.  Remember, attendance at the convention classes is also mandatory for Petite, Jr., Teen and Sr. Ovation.

I will have the costume books at the studio this Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  This is during the adult class, so Studio B (the purple one) will be available to spread out and look at the books.  There will be someone at the studio until 9:00 p.m. so this should give us plenty of time.  If the pricing list is attached to the book, it will be in there, but if it is a separate booklet, I will not send it.  Those have been lost in the past, and it is extremely hard to get another one.

What you need to do is pick a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice for your child's costume.  I will e-mail you with the cost of the choices by the end of this week and then you can make your final decision.  We need several choices b/c some companies (not many, but some) have very long production times, and would not be able to get it here by Feb. 26th.

Payment for solo costume in full is required for ordering.  Again, I would stress the need to order ASAP.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  I will be there, as well as Amy, Jen, Cherie and Billie Jean if you need any help.  Thanks so much!

Barbie’s Encore Dance Productions

September Newsletter

I hope that you all are as excited about this year as I am!!  We have an amazing group of dancers and we are really looking forward to a wonderful year!  Detailed below is information you need to know about upcoming events, and also getting settled into this dance season.  Feel free to e-mail Mrs. Barbie with any questions or concerns at barbiedance1@hotmail.com

The New Studio!!!

I’m sure by now you have heard the exciting news that we are getting a brand new studio!  The new location is just 2 doors down from where we are now.  It is where all the construction has been going on.  All 3 studios will be downstairs, we will have brand new dance floors, new décor, new air conditioning unit, the list goes on and on!  We are very excited about our new studio and can’t wait to start occupying it October 1st.  Until that time, we will continue to meet in Studio A (pink studio) and Studio B (lavender studio) as usual.  If you are scheduled for Studio C (yellow studio) that used to be upstairs, you will be meeting in a room the builders are letting us “borrow” until the new construction is complete in a few weeks.  To get to the temporary Studio C, park in the back and enter the outside door that is just to the left of our back door.  There is a small waiting area, and we can direct you where to go from there.  Like I said, we will only be there until the new construction is complete October 1st, and I do think it WILL be ready by then, since they are already paintingJ

New Schedule

We have had to adjust our schedule slightly.  Please see the new Tuesday night lineup.  Also, we have added a 2-3 year old class (Tracey’s Ballerinas) on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.  We still need dancers to move from Barbie’s Ballerinas on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. into another class if you can, as that class is very large.  If you are able to do this, please reply back and we can get this taken care of before the first meeting of that class.  The changes are very small and I believe just on Tuesdays, but please check out the attached schedule, to make sure you are coming at the right time.

 Shoes

Our dance shoes come from many different distributors.  Some have arrived and some have not.  Ballet and tap shoes for younger dancers are in, as well as hip hop sneakers.  I get shipments every day so even more may be in by the time your child comes to class.  Our instructors know the situation and it is fine if your child does not have their shoes for their first class, if that is the case.  At your first class, you will need to try on the shoes ordered for your dancer.  If it is the correct fit, you need to IMMEDIATELY write their name in them so as not to lose them!  Sharpies will be provided at the studio.  If the shoes do not fit to your liking, please see Mrs. Jen for a reorder of another size, at no cost to you.

Dancewear – All BEDP logo leotards for the younger dancers have arrived.  All black tights to go with these are in also.  Please check with your dance teacher to receive yours.  If you do not have a Barbie’s leotard and have not ordered one (pink with black logo on the chest), please let Mrs. Jen know immediately so we can get this ordered for you.  These particular leotards come from Florida and take several weeks to get in.  This is what the younger dancers should wear for Belmont Fallfest in October.  More on this later in the newsletter.  The dancers will also wear this again for Mt. Holly Springfest in May.  They may also wear it to dance class whenever they wish.  The leotards ordered for Petite, Jr., Teen and Sr. Ovation are being embroidered and should be back any day now.  The Barbie’s pink t-shirts are with the embroidered leos…..coming any day now.

Belmont Fallfest – Saturday October 9th Stowe Park in downtown Belmont in front of the gazebo

Arrive at 12:45 p.m.  We will perform at 1:00p .m.  Performance will last approximately 45 minutes.  Please have your dancer arrive in tennis shoes to dance in, just in case they do not have a floor laid down.  BRING YOUR DANCE SHOES!  If there IS a floor laid down, we will wear the dance shoes, but last year there was not a floor.  All Hip Hop dancers should wear their dance sneakers.  You may want to bring a towel/blanket/lawn chair to sit on to watch the show.  Each class will show a little of what we have started working on for this dance year.

What to wear for Fallfest – This is the time you will wear the Barbie’s logo leotard with black tights, or the Barbie’s t-shirt with black pants.  The black pants should be easy to move in….no black jeans!!  If you do NOT have a Barbie’s leotard or t-shirt please let Mrs. Jenifer know immediately so you will have it in time for Fallfest.  Petite, Jr., Teen and Sr. Ovation should wear the new ovation zebra top, black booty shorts, tan tights and dance sneakers.  You should wear your hair in a back low ponytail parted on the right, and wear your round rhinestone earrings (dangles for the juniors).  Also should wear your rhinestone ponytail holder.  If you did not order these items at registration see Ms. Jen ASAP so you will have it by Fallfest.   All Staff should be in Studio logo attire.

Dropping/Adding/Changing classes

Please note that if you drop, add or change a class, you will need to fill out a form from our waiting room.  Mrs. Jen can show you the correct one to fill out.  Simply not coming to a class is not dropping the class.  The appropriate form must be completed or you will continue to be charged for that class.  The same goes for if you add a class or change to a different class.  We have over 200 students this year and we want to make sure we have everyone accounted for when it is time to order costumes and such!

Thanks so much for all your support as we begin a wonderful dance year!
