2011 - 2012 Class Descriptions
"Core" Classes – The following classes will teach ballet, tap and jazz at every class session
Barbie’s Ballerinas – ages 2-3 (30 min. class)
An introduction to dance and basic movement principles with music your child loves. Class will incorporate movements to music with games at times. Students will perform a ballet, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May.
Cost = $30/month
Twirlerz I – ages 3-5 (30 min. class)
Still a basic introduction to dance, but will promote more complicated movements and rhythms. Students will be introduced to barre work and center work. Students will perform a ballet, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May.

Twirlerz II – ages 4 – Kindergarten (30 min. class)
Concentration is placed on unison dancing, as well as proper technique. Class includes barre work, center work and introduction to across the floor. Students will perform a ballet, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May.
Cost = $35/month
Kickerz – Kindergarten – 2nd grade (1 hour class)
A more definitive relationship with dance and music is established. Students participate in barre work, across the floor, center work and solo presentation of steps. Students will perform a ballet, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May. No competition.
Cost = $40/month
Shakerz - 1st grade – 3rd grade (1 hour class)
Dancers will focus on musicality and developing new dance skills. Students participate in barre work, across the floor, center work and solo presentation of steps. Current music accompanies age-appropriate dance moves. Students will perform a ballet, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May. No Competition. Cost = $40/month
Stepperz - 1st grade - 5th grade (1 hour cllass) -
Dancers will focus on musicality and developing new dance skills. Students participate in barre work, across the floor, center work and solo presentation of steps. Current music accompanies age-appropriate dance moves. Students will perform a ballet, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May. No Competition. Cost = $40/month
Adult – 18 and older
Fun for beginners or for the most advanced of dancers. Conservative costumes and no stress environment. Jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop and clogging will be taught.
Cost = $30/month (Cost is $20/month if you presently have a child also enrolled)
Ovation Competition Troupes - The following classes will allow your dancer to showcase their skills at the recreational competitive level. All abilities are welcome!
Mini Ovation Performance Troupe - Kindergarten - 1st grade or by placement
Our youngest competition group! Must attend Mini Ovation camp or the makeup Saturday camp to be placed in this class. Troupe will compete at one regional and one national dance competition. Must also be enrolled in a core class.
Cost - $10/month
Petite Ovation Performance Troupe – 2nd – 3rd grade or by placement
Lots of fun for the student wanting a challenging dance class! Students have the opportunity to compete in regional and National dance competitions. Price includes Petite/Jr. technique class. Students will perform a lyrical, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May. This class meets 2 days a week for a total of 2 hours and 15 min. of instructional time.

Junior Ovation Performance Troupe – 4th – 6th grade or by placement
A high energy class with concentration placed on movement perfection and lyricism. Classes include intense warm-up, barre work, center work and precision movements. This troupe will compete at 2 regional and 1 National competition each spring. Price includes Petite/Jr. technique class. Students will perform a lyrical, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May. This class meets 2 days a week for a total of 2 hours and 15 min. of instructional time.

Teen Ovation Performance Troupe – 6th – 8th grade
Dancers will learn current dance styles in an age appropriate environment. Troupe performs at community functions as well as local and national dance competitions. Price includes Teen/Sr. technique class. Students will perform a lyrical, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May. This class meets 2 days a week for a total of 2 1/2 hours of instructional time.

Sr. Ovation Performance Troupe – 9th – 12th grade
A fast paced atmosphere with a big emphasis on learning the latest dance steps. Troupe performs at community functions as well as local and national dance competitions. Students may be allowed to choreograph dances for this class or other classes upon Director’s approval. Price includes Teen/Sr. technique class. Students will perform a lyrical, jazz and tap routine in the recital in May. This class meets 2 days a week for a total of 2 1/2 hours of instructional time.

Elite Competition Troupes - The following classes are by audition only during summer camp. They compete at the Intermediate level at Regional and National Competitions.
Mini Elite Company – age 4 – 2nd grade (by audition only)
Concentration on learning a single dance to be performed and competed at regional and National competitions. Must be enrolled in Kickerz, Shakerz, or Petite Ovation class also.

Petite Elite Company - Kindergarten – 3rd grade (by audition only)
Concentration on learning a single dance to be performed and competed at regional and National competitions. Must be enrolled in Petite Ovation class also.

Junior Elite Company – 3rd – 6th grade (by audition only)
Dancers selected through our summer audition process for this group will have the opportunity to compete an additional dance during our spring competition season. Dancers must be presently enrolled in Petite Ovation or Junior Ovation to be eligible to be selected for this class.

Senior Elite Company – 5th – 12th grade (by audition only)
Dancers selected through our summer audition process for this group will have the opportunity to compete an additional dance during our spring competition season. Dancers must be presently enrolled in Junior, Teen or Senior Ovation to be eligible to be selected for this class.

Specialty Classes – Take by themselves or add them on for extra fun!!
Breakdancing – ages 4 – 12
Learn to be a “B-Boy” or “B-Girl”! Exciting popping and locking techniques are taught along with freezes and body spins. Competes with the Jr. Hip Hop class at Regional and National competitions.

Cheer/Tumble - ages 4 – 12 (30 min. class)
Class focuses on floor tumbling technique and practice, as well as cheerleading fundamentals, cheer dances, and partner stunts/pyramid building.
Cost = $35/month (If also enrolled in a dance class, cost is $20/month)
Intro to Modeling - ages 5 and up (30 min. class)
An introduction to formal and freestyle runway modeling. Focus on T-formation and individual expression. Great for boosting self-confidence!

Clogging I – ages 4 and up (30 min. class)
An introductory clogging class with fun music and upbeat traditional clogging steps.
Cost = $30/month
(Cost is $10/month if also enrolled in another BEDP dance class)
Clogging - Black Team – by placement only (30 min. class)
Class is geared more for the experienced cloggers. This class may attend competition along with the Ovation Performance Troupes.

Clogging - Pink Team - by placement only (30 min. class)
Must have at least 2 years experience in clogging. Will attend regional and National Competitions.

Mini Hip Hop - ages 4-2nd grade (30 min. class)
Basic Hip Hop fundamantals to age appropriate music. Lots of fun! Will compete at the regional and national level.

Jr. Hip Hop – 3rd – 6th grade (30 min. class)
Basic hip hop fundamentals are instructed in a fun environment. This class competes at regional and National competitions.

Sr. Hip-Hop – middle school – high school ages (30 min. class)
Hip-hop and break-dance fundamentals are taught and practiced weekly. Students will learn and perform upbeat hip-hop routines around the community and at Regional and National competitions.
Cost = $30/month (If also enrolled in Ovation class, cost is $10/month)
Production – ages 6 and up
Students will learn an elaborate production number to be performed and competed. Must be enrolled in regular dance class, and must commit to all performances and competitions. Production number this year will be “Wizard of Oz”.
Cost = $10/month - must also be enrolled in core dancee class
Pointe I, II, and III– (by placement only)
A beginner to intermediate pointe class focusing on classical and lyrical ballet.
Cost = $10/month
Tumbling for dance (30 min. class) NEW!!!!!!!
Class will focus on learning tumbling skills that can be performed in dance routines. Tiny Tumblerz - ages 2-4 Mini Tumblerz - Kindergarten - 2nd grade Jr. Tumblerz - 3rd grade - 6th grade Teen Tumblerz - 6th grade - 12th grade. Coach is certified through USA gymnastics.
Cost = $30 month

Pom Dance (30 min. class) NEW!!!!!
Dances will be taught in the style of high school and collegiate dance teams. Tumbling will be incorporated, as will cheer motions and dance skills. 3 different levels Mini Pom - age 4 - 2nd grade Black Pom Team - 3rd - 12 grade by placement Pink Pom Team - 3rd - 12th grade by placement.

Private Lessons by appointment
Customized solo/duet/trio routines are taught and rehearsed. All music must meet director’s approval.
