Solos
If you would like to compete a solo this year, you need to request private lessons with one of our instructors. Solos will charge a $65 choreography fee and also an instructor $15/half hour fee. These fees are paid directly to the teacher instructing the solo. How much you rehearse is up to you, but keep in mind that great solos need lots of rehearsal time. I would also suggest bringing a video camera to the rehearsals to capture the movements in case you get home and cannot remember. Students competing a solo at Boogie Fever and/or Dance Machine will again be required this year to compete their solo at the Upstate Dance Convention/Competition in York, SC on Feb. 26th. This is a great inexpensive “practice” competition where you can receive invaluable feedback. Solos not competed at Upstate will NOT be allowed to compete at Boogie Fever or Dance Machine.
Conventions
All Petite, Jr., Teen and Sr. Ovation members are REQUIRED to attend Upstate Dance Convention in York, SC Feb. 26th. This is an all-day event that allows the dancers to take class from various teachers. We had a lot of fun last year, and look forward to a great time again!
